That’s a wrap!

Time to cool my heels Racing season was so busy I never had a chance to make a single post. Now that I am officially in off-season I have a few minutes to reflect on how everything went. Podiums and Prizes! KC Tri Olympic distance – 2:39 finish time First race of the season and…

Bike gear reviews

Wants vs. Needs (Is there a difference? 😉 Sounds easy enough to just go hop onto your bicycle and pedal on down the road, right? But wait, you’ll surely get thirsty if you’re planning on riding for awhile. You’ll need to put a water bottle holder on your bike. How about your helmet? That’s another…

the daily grind, fighting through on the bike trainer

All bike trainers are not created equal! There’s nothing fun about sitting on your bike trainer. I know it’s a necessary evil in these winter months here in Kansas. But c’mon, it’s so depressing. Can I just gripe for a second? I have a CycleOps indoor trainer. I have to unclip and get off my…

Asics: my go-to-shoe

“You can tell a lot about a person by their shoes” -Forest Gump Any runner would back up that statement. We’re passionate about our most important piece of equipment.  My tried and true shoe is the Asics Gel Noosa Tri 9.  I’ve bought several pairs of this model and it goes the distance. I get…

Small but Mighty

This: Plus water Equals Torture. I have been working on my swimming, the weakest of my three sports. I mean, c’mon, why is swimming so hard? Sometimes, while being passed at a ridiculous speed, I wonder if my fellow lap lover is working their way through the same liquid as I am! I suspect someone…

Gather round the table and give thanks!

Food time! A beautiful Tofurkey roast, expertly prepared by my sister today, a day early as we celebrated ahead of time to share the holiday with more family tomorrow.  Can’t help but laugh at my sons expression.   All those savory sweet blessings on the table are wonderful, but you can be smart about what…

One month later…

…And it’s off season! Today is my one month anniversary of becoming an Ironman. One month? Seems like it was a year ago already. So that’s done, and I say, ok, what’s next?

First Ironman

“You are an Ironman!” Every single sweat session, every loooong workout, every excruciating interval repeat, and every blasted alarm sounding at 4:30 in the morning, has now paid off.  “Ironman” -One who can bear the most pain for the longest amount of time. Sounds fun right? This sport is not for the faint of heart….

Learning the hard way

Nutrition, nutrition, nutrition Is oh so hard to get right! Racing all day long means you must eat right? I’ve failed to get this right recently in several races. This time I finally got it right. You can say I learned the hard way. I have so many afterthoughts from yesterday’s race that I may…

Bike! Smiling at the final corner

I got the perfect shot of our smiling girl. I wasn’t going to miss her this time! Run! Brenda run! She looks strong so she must be getting her nutrition right. And she’s out of the chute with a smile! Now for a little run!

Bike on Brenda!

Brenda was relieved to know that tech support was available if needed  during  the 112 mile trek through Louisville.. There’s the techie on the motorcycle. (Bib 3221 is not in this photo). The sky is clear…perfect day for a little bike ride!

Great swim!

She swam so fast that I missed her in the blur. 1:16 was her time.  The current was kind to the swimmers.  Who hoo! I am her craziest fan a.k.a. Mom
